The Third round of Interdisciplinary European Studies has started

«The Best European Practices for the «Water Security» Platform to Achieve the Goals of Sustainable Development» within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Program, implemented by the Department of Ecology of Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University.

The project coordinator, Professor of the Department of Ecology Olena Mitryasova said in her introductory speech that the Module covers the following issues: main characteristics of water resources; water quality, climate change; integrated water resources management; water policy and legislation, as well as environmental policy strategies of EU member states.

In 2021, the format of the Module is remote and will take place in the ZOOM format, which will attract participants from many regions, universities, institutions, public organizations of Ukraine from the following cities: Kamyanets-Podilsky; Mukacheve, Vinnytsia; Rivne; Lviv; Chernivtsi; Zaporizhzhia; Kyiv, Uman, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kremenchug, Kherson, Mykolayiv.

Dmytro Mats, Head of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Mykolayiv Regional State Administration, and Ruslan Tuz, Head of the Industrial Safety Department of the Regional Water Resources Office, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. They outlined the main key issues of water resources in the region and stressed the importance of studying and researching water safety issues.

The opening meeting was dedicated to the topic: “The importance of the European Union in international environmental relations.” Senior lecturer of the Department of Ecology, responsible executor of the project Yevhen Bezsonov presented the issue.

The dialogues of the participants took place on the following issues: formation of the EU environmental foundation; the EU’s place in international environmental law; EU institutions in the field of environmental protection and legal support of the concept of sustainable development on the example of the EU.

The project team sincerely hopes that the content and format of its implementation will provide its participants with new professional knowledge and will be a strong impetus for further study and research on water safety in the light of the concept of sustainable development.
