The water community of the international Erasmus+ project is moving forward

On March 31, 2021, a regular session was held within the framework of the Erasmus + Jean Monnet Project “The Best European Practices for the «Water Security» Platform to Achieve the Goals of Sustainable Development” 597938-EPP-1-2018-1-EN-EPPJMO-MODULE, implemented at the Department of Ecology of Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University.

The topic “European water policy: experience and practice” was presented by the responsible executor of the Project, Associate Professor of Ecology, Candidate of Geological Sciences Viktor Smirnov.

During the online meeting, the speaker covered water policy issues related to the use of international waters, inland seas, relevant agreements and conventions.

The principles of water resources management, features of investing in the development of sustainable water management and its modern technologies, in particular desalination, were considered.

As part of the presentation of best practices in water policy, the speaker reviewed the progress of their implementation in Ukraine, which, among other things, became one of the topics of discussion in the final part of the lesson.
